Facial prosthetics equity for Head and Neck Cancer
Question
1. The KPMG review confirms inequities in access to cancer-related prostheses. While longer-term reforms are under consideration, what immediate steps will the Government take to support patients who currently cannot access or afford facial prosthetics after life saving treatment for Head and Neck Cancer. 2. Given the significant functional and psychosocial impacts of facial disfigurement, will the Government commit to a clear timeframe for closing the equity gap in access to facial prosthetics for people with Head and Neck Cancer? What accountability and reporting mechanisms will be put in place to track progress on implementing the review's recommendations? 3. When will Australians affected by Head and Neck Cancer have equitable access to facial prosthetics, regardless of where they live?
