First Nations Health funding
Question
The Budget allocates $250 million under the 2026-2031 National Health Reform Agreement to improve health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, to be matched up the $200 million by the States and Territories. ? How will the Department monitor whether funds are being used for First Nations health outcomes? ? The agreement requires reporting against Closing the Gap targets, but will future funding be dependent on making progress against those targets? ? How is the Department ensuring that public hospitals are offering culturally-sensitive services for First Nations communities and building the First Nations health workforce?
