11. Treatment and guidelines for chronic UTI a. Has the Department undertaken any review of the evidence base underpinning current UTI clinical guidelines, including consideration of lived experience evidence, and its impact on patient outcomes? b. Given patient advocates' concerns about the current clinical guidelines and the existence of multiple, potentially inconsistent guidelines in Australia, will the Minister commit to a national review to ensure consistent, evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and management of all forms of urinary tract infection, including chronic urinary tract infection? c. How many clinics or services currently exist nationally with specialist expertise in diagnosing and treating urinary tract infections using evidence-based diagnostic and treatment protocols specific to chronic urinary tract infection? d. Given that many chronic UTI patients are forced to access treatment from international clinics due to a lack of access to evidence-based treatment in Australia, will the Government consider funding one or more specialist treatment and research clinics dedicated to chronic and complex UTI? e. What consideration has been given to balancing antimicrobial stewardship objectives with the clinical needs of patients experiencing recurrent and chronic urinary tract infections?
