Consultation for Thriving Kids
Question
Senator ASKEW: And program design. What consultation has occurred with families, carers, early childhood educators and disability organisations in the design of Thriving Kids? Ms Pulczynski: Thriving Kids builds on the work of the NDIS review, which heard from family and sector representatives about the need for an approach that was different to the NDIS model. Similarly, the Thriving Kids Advisory Group that Minister Butler and Professor Oberklaid led also had a number of engagements and consultations with representatives. As part of the taskforce, in implementing Thriving Kids, we're engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including for the Commonwealth measures. We are attending dedicated forums-for example, speaking with the NDIS Reform Advisory Committee, disability representative organisations, the NDIS advisory council and committees and the NDIS Children's Expert Advisory Group. We're also engaging with organisations representing the autistic community. We also have engagements across education and health related forums-for example, the Early Childhood Policy Group, the Schools Policy Group and the general practitioner reference group. We also are engaging with First Nations representative orgs, including NACCHO and SNAICC, and we also have a number of engagements with early childhood education, disability and health experts and academics. Senator ASKEW: Extensive-would you be able to table that list? Ms Pulczynski: Certainly. I might also add that part of the $600 million investment by the Commonwealth will go to engaging an autism led or autistic focused organisation to work with us on the measures that we develop, the resources that we develop, and to feed into the implementation of Thriving Kids.
