Administrative Review Tribunal - Cases
Question
Senator ASKEW: When I had the call before, I mentioned I was going to move on to the Administrative Review Tribunal. I just wonder if someone who could answer those questions could come forward. How many cases were submitted to the Administrative Review Tribunal for the 2025-26 year to date and each financial year, if you've got it, for the last five years. Mr Swainson: I have some information here about the number of new cases submitted in the last quarter, so I can provide that. I do have some additional information on the last year. In the last quarter, the March 2026 quarter, there were 2,294 cases. I do have in my pack the yearly figures. Senator ASKEW: If you have, that'd be great. Mr Swainson: In the 2025-26 year-to-date figure, which goes- Senator ASKEW: Is that till the end of March? Mr Swainson: That's the end of March; that's right. We had 6,998 matters received. Senator ASKEW: Do you have any previous years on hand, or is that something you have to take on notice. Mr Swainson: Yes, I do. In the 2024-25 financial year we had 7,137, and in the 2023-24 year we had 4,044 new cases received. Senator ASKEW: That's as far back as you've got? Mr Swainson: That's as far back as I've got in my pack. If you want further, we could probably get it during the hearing if you'd like? Senator ASKEW: If you could, that would be great. If you could come back to us after the break, perhaps, that would be excellent. Mr Swainson: No problem.
