Whistleblower Protections
Question
Senator ASKEW: I'm going to go into whistleblower protections next. How many whistleblower reports have the agency or commission received since 1 June 2025? That's this financial year.... Does the agency have any numbers? .... Senator ASKEW: The questions are sort of in relation to the bill that was passed on 1 April this year, the integrity and safeguarding bill. That's where I'm focusing my attention....Did anyone else from the agency want to contribute to the discussion?... I'll just go through these quickly; I think most of these will probably be on notice. How many have been acted upon, or how many investigations have commenced as a result of these reports? Is the agency going to take on notice the answers for those as well? Mr Head: We'll take that on notice as well. Senator ASKEW: For both of those: how many reports, as well as what's been acted on, and how many are currently being investigated. I'll give it all to you, because I suspect you won't have this information. Have there been any prosecutions as a result of the whistleblower reporting? Can you provide us with the existing whistleblower policy-whether that reflects the new legislation and what it looks like for both the NDIA and the commission. Has it been updated now to reflect the legislation? Have you got a copy of the updated policy and the date that it came into effect as well? That's probably all I need, but it will all be on notice by the sound of it, so I'll hand back to the chair.
