Question

Senator RUSTON: In the DSM-IV, and now in the DSM-5, there is a listing for paraphilic disorders. Do we have any people on the NDIS that are classified as having paraphilic disorders-receiving full or part-as the reason that they're on the scheme? Mr Gifford: I'd have to take that on notice, if that's okay, but we can certainly look into that for you. Senator RUSTON: You're going to take it on notice? Mr Gifford: I don't have the information to hand, so we can investigate whether we can get it to you today. Senator RUSTON: Maybe I'll couch it a different way. Could somebody with a paraphilic disorder be receiving the supports of the NDIS for that particular component? I'm not suggesting it's all of it; there may be other reasons why they're receiving support on the NDIS. But could somebody receive support from the NDIS because they had a paraphilic disorder? Mr Gifford: I'd probably have to get someone who can comment more specifically on the access process. I just don't have information about paraphilic disorders to hand. Senator McAllister: They can take that on notice. Senator RUSTON: The reason I'm asking is that, as a subcategory of paraphilic disorders, the disorder could be paedophilia or paedophilic disorder. So I'd be keen to understand if there are any people who are currently receiving supports from the NDIS who fit into the subcategories, under paraphilic disorders, of paedophilia or paedophilic disorder. Mr Gifford: I'm certainly not aware of-as I said, I'd have to take it on notice.
