Labour Hire Staff

Senator STEELE-JOHN: I just want to check-is any core work currently done by external labour within the agency? Mr McNaughton: When we say 'core work', it's a broad term. We do have outsourced partners supporting some elements-our national contact centre. Senator STEELE-JOHN: Yes, Serco-I think you'd want to- Mr McNaughton: We have a hybrid model of internally sourced staff, APS staff, who do the more complex work in the national contact centre, and we use Serco, which I still classify as core work-engaging with participants, answering general inquiries, doing access requests for information. That's still something they do. Senator STEELE-JOHN: Could you take on notice for us whether any core work is currently being done by external labour and, if so, what it is. Also, could you provide on notice for us the number of labour hire staff by division, location and role within the agency. Thank you. Mr McNaughton: Sure.
