NHMRC Grants
Question
5. Between 2022 and the present date, what NHMRC grants were awarded to projects that involved research into the development, improvement or use of non-animal research methods? What was the total amount of funding spent on these grants? 6. With reference to the grant applications NHMRC receives, what university and hospital institutions currently, and in the last five years, have received funding grants from NHMRC for testing or research that includes non-human primates? 7. Does the NHMRC hold information about the actual number of animals used in research that is the subject of an NHMRC grant? For example, under the Funding Agreements in place between the Commonwealth (as represented by the NHMRC) and the Administering Institutions, does the NHMRC receive reports (e.g. progress reports or final reports) from the Administering Institutions that contain information about the actual number of animals used in the research activity? a. If yes, can the NHMRC use this information to revise its answers to questions 2 and 3 in QoN SQ26-001267 based on the actual number of animals used. These questions are: i. What NHMRC grants were awarded for the years 2024 and 2025 that involved non-human primates and what species and number of primates were intended for use per project? ii. What NHMRC grants were awarded, and to what sum, for the years 2024 and 2025 that involved animal testing and what species and number of animals were used in each project?
