Modelling and assumptions (Mandatory registration)
Question
Senator RUSTON: What does 'policy enablement' actually mean? Ms Sham: That would be the development of the rules and the work to actually stand up the commission rules made by the commissioner to enable mandatory registration. The second part of that then would be actually facilitating readiness in the sector to understand what would be required of the sector, to become registered and to build understanding of compliance with the practice standards that will be expected of them through registration. The third part is actually registering providers. They will need to go through the registration process, which starts with an online suitability assessment and then moves through to audit to confirm their compliance against the practice standards. Then the final component is the ongoing expected regulatory actions that come from having registered providers. The compliance requirements include reportable incidents and obviously reporting that comes from having mandatory registration. Senator RUSTON: So do you have the breakdown of each of these components that you've just outlined? I mean, how much of the $46 million a year goes to each of those components? Ms Sham: I haven't got each categorised but I could provide that on notice. There is one other component. The other part of that was also the establishment of cost recovery, which will come into effect from 1 July 2027. Senator RUSTON: Well, I'll look forward to the breakdown. When you provide the breakdowns of the five areas that you said, it'd be really good if you could profile it over the forwards. Ms Sham: Yes, we can do that.
