Question

An independent review of 1800 RESPECT last year identified a range of issues around referrals, cultural safety, privacy, and lack of counselling expertise. When the additional $41.8M was given to 1800 RESPECT in MYEFO, did the government seek assurances that those issues would be addressed? Has the government assessed whether the services 1800RESPECT refers to, including specialist sexual assault services, have sufficient resources to meet demand? Have the recommendations of the independent review of 1800RESPECT been accepted? If yes, what funding has been allocated to implement the recommendations, and what progress has been made to date? Has DSS met with the Attorney-General's Department about the Keep Counselling Confidential campaign, or made any other requests for reforms to protect sexual assault counselling records against disclosure?
