Question

Senator RUSTON: How many staff vacancies are there at the moment in the department? Ms Connolly: We are in a situation where we have about the right number of staff for our funding. Senator RUSTON: I think my question was more around if you have the staff that are required to fill the positions. Are you actively seeking to employ? Not all staff can do all jobs. Ms Connolly: That's fair. We have a number of external vacancies that are either advertised or about to be advertised. I think it'll be in the order of 20 or so. We also have a very active program of internal expressions of interest so that staff can be moved to priority areas. If they feel, for their own development, they would like to do something different, they put up their hand and we consider internal expressions of interest first, before advertising externally. Senator RUSTON: If it would be possible for the 20 positions that you aren't filling or intending to fill internally, could you give us a breakdown of the APS levels. Ms Connolly: I'll need to take that on notice.
