Question

1. First steps for implementing recommendations from Ambitious Australia - the final report from the Strategic Examination of R&D - were announced in the recent Federal Budget. Has a timeline for implementing these actions been established? 2. When do you expect to have the National Resilience and Science Council and its Terms of Reference established? 3. When will the Government issue a full response to the Ambitious Australia report's recommendations? 4. Are other Ministers across the Government also engaging with the establishment of the National Resilience and Science Council? Which Ministers/portfolios? 5. Has an inter-departmental committee been established to progress the Ambitious Australia recommendations? ? If so, how often does this group meet and how many meetings have already been held? 6. Given the goal of Ambitious Australia is to support Australian R&D, and particularly industry and business R&D, what analysis was done to support the decision to cut Australia's Economic Accelerator program (the primary purpose of which is to support university-industry research collaborations)? 7. What analysis was done to support the decision to scale back funding allocations to the Industry Growth Program over the forward estimates? 8. Has the department conducted any analysis of Australia's ~150 R&D programs to evaluate which are currently working well and which might be better suited to 'consolidation' to support thinking around the Ambitious Australia recommendations to streamline Australia's R&D funding system? If so, what were the findings and will they be published?
