Question

Before the 2022 election the Government committed $100 million towards a Queensland Battery Manufacturing Precinct. In February 2026 Estimates it was revealed that $5.6 million had been spent despite none of the $100 million being allocated in the Budget. a. Apart from the $5.6 million in consulting costs, how much has been spent on the precinct to date? b. Is there any money in the 2026-27 Budget for the precinct? 2. It's been four years since the project was announced, with no money committed so far. a. What has caused the delays in establishing the precinct? b. Has the Commonwealth been in discussions with the Queensland Government about the precinct? If so, when were discussions last held? c. Has the project been scrapped? If not, what are the next steps?
