ACNC - Secrecy constraints on church investigations

Question

Senator SHOEBRIDGE: I may ask the minister just very briefly at the end. You've previously publicly confirmed investigations into the Mormon church and Hillsong. I have many constituents asking me whether or not there are investigations into a variety of other entities, but the ones that have kept coming back to me time after time after time are the Casey City Church and the Melkite church. There have been deeply concerning issues raised with my office. Have you got investigations into either of those entities? Ms Woodward: I can't answer that question, because of the secrecy provisions. I would reiterate the general comment that I made that these provisions relate to investigations that we would commence after they came into operation. By not commenting one way or the other, that doesn't mean that we're not investigating. I'm just not commenting. Senator SHOEBRIDGE: I understand, Commissioner. Minister, do you have an update on where you're up to with the reforms? Senator Gallagher: I don't know. I'm happy to take that on notice, Senator Shoebridge.
