Question

Senator McDONALD: In the last 12 months, how many investigation requests have you received from intelligence agencies for a charity due to foreign donation and funding concerns? Ms Woodward: I would have to take that on notice. Senator McDONALD: Can you outline in how many instances a charity has lost ACNC status due to foreign funding concerns to date? Ms Woodward: I'm not sure how we would categorise the 'foreign funding concern'. That would have to fit within our framework of: 'Are they are not using funds for their charitable purpose? Are they using it to support a sanctioned organisation?' So it's not an easy label. We could attempt to take that on notice. Senator McDONALD: Could you break that up-perhaps over the last, say, four years-by some of the issues around which you might have discontinued or removed ACNC status? Ms Woodward: We can do our best.
