Question

1. Given the Government's 2023 pledge to publish a National Housing and Homelessness Plan that would provide 'a 10-year national vision ... to help guide future housing and homelessness policy', why was that specific pledge abandoned in the 'Homes for Australia' 'National Plan' published recently? 2. Given the National Plan's welcome acknowledgement that the Commonwealth is now '[considering] future investment options to continue rebuilding social housing' and given the shared responsibility of all Australian governments for social housing, can Treasury confirm that this 'consideration' also involves the states and territories? 3. What is Treasury's view on the likely housing market impacts of the recently-announced One Nation commitment to ban foreign ownership of Australian residential property and force divestment of existing holdings in two years? 4. In the light of recently renewed controversy on the alleged impact of international student demand on Australian rents, can Treasury provide an update on the Commonwealth's discussions with universities that link allowable overseas student enrolment with the local expansion of purpose-built student housing?
