Question

Senator COLBECK: Can you take this specific question on notice for me. It's a technical one. In that sense, given the growth we're seeing, particularly in Victoria at the moment, with respect to alcohol, have you looked at any of the modelling that you've been doing and applied it to alcohol so that we don't end up in the same situation in that circumstance, particularly in respect of the changes to the WET, where the threshold has been increased from $350,000 to $400,000? Are there any measures being considered as a part of that change to manage what I would think is an increased incentive to try and manipulate the scheme-which is what I think is happening in Victoria-to avoid excise? Ms D Brown: I'm happy to take that question on notice. I think, at the last hearing, we did talk about the increase in illicit alcohol, so it's something that I only talked about very recently with my staff. So I'm happy to take that question on notice and provide you a more considered answer.
