PC - WA government engagement on GST review

Senator DEAN SMITH: How many times has the Productivity Commission met with Mr Michael Barnes from Western Australia, who leads the GST fighting squad, if the WA Premier is to be believed? Prof. Robson: I'd have to take that on notice, but I don't think I've had any meetings with him. I will double-check. Senator DEAN SMITH: You don't think you've had a meeting with Mr Michael Barnes, the former under treasurer, who is the head of the WA GST fighting squad? Prof. Robson: I'll have to check. I'll take that on notice. Senator Gallagher: I'm advised that the WA government has made two formal submissions to the inquiry. That's my advice. Ms Wood: We have met with the WA Treasurer and government representatives. Senator DEAN SMITH: How many times have you met with the WA Treasurer? Prof. Robson: I've met in person once. Senator DEAN SMITH: How many times have you met with the WA Premier? Prof. Robson: I don't think we've had a meeting with any of the state premiers, other than the ones who perhaps have the treasury portfolio. I can take that on notice and come back to you. ... Senator DEAN SMITH: Have you met with any other ministers from the Western Australian state government? Prof. Robson: You're testing my memory of meetings here. I'm happy to take that on notice.
