Question

The Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) Student Experience Survey 2024 Report Methodology (Appendix 7 - Core Questionnaire) does not include any question on gender. 1. Can the Department advise why a question on gender, and related variables in accordance with the ABS Standard (2020), has not been included in the core questionnaire of this national survey? 2. Can the Department advise whether current data collection practices in QILT regarding gender and related variables inhibit government and higher education institutions from responding to gender-based violence, particularly in light of Standard 6: Data, Evidence and Impact of the National Code to Respond to Gender-Based Violence in Higher Education? 3. Can the Department advise why the QILT 2024 Student Experience Survey report, and other QILT reports, only report 'male' and 'female' gender categories, and whether the absence of reporting on LGBTIQA+ identities, including non-binary, transgender and intersex students, may limit the visibility of these cohorts in higher education data and impact the capacity of institutions to respond to their needs?
