In?Home Care Support Grant Funding - Provider Exit Risk
Question
Senator O'SULLIVAN: How many providers were identified as being at risk of reducing services or exiting the market? Mr Cook: I don't know that we would have anything that said they were at risk of exiting. I think there are 27 services-I will be corrected if I'm wrong-that exist there. Again, they will have made representations around what their costs are. We wouldn't have a definitive position of whether any have said that they are going to close. Senator O'SULLIVAN: You never heard that? Ms Crane: My interpretation of the question that you've asked is if we're aware of the 27 and how many were essentially going to close tomorrow, in six months or other things. We don't have that in terms of the way the question was asked. Certainly, we have representations around costs increasing, and other things are impacting those service providers. Given the nature of the work that they deliver, we wouldn't have it as definitively. Senator O'SULLIVAN: I believe representation was made to the minister that-at least this is what the individuals told me was made-they were at risk of closing or having to exit by the end of the financial year, so by the end of this month, if something wasn't done. I'm not saying all of them, but I had quite a number of representations that this was quite critical. You didn't hear the same? Ms Crane: If the question is how many in their correspondence to us used that language, we'd have to take that on notice. Senator O'SULLIVAN: Okay.
