Number of Children Displaced by Child Care Centre Closures

Senator HODGINS-MAY: Obviously, there are many childcare deserts that exist simultaneous to those centres opening in oversubscribed areas. This will probably need to be taken on notice as well, but I'd like to know how many children have been displaced by centre closures over the past 12 months, regardless of whether or not they were able to find alternative care. Is that data that you would have? Mr Reed: We would have data on the number of enrolments in those centres. By 'displaced', you mean they would need to find another centre?
