TEQSA | Meetings with the Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism
Question
Senator FARUQI: Thank you. TEQSA is on the antisemitism education working group led by David Gonski. To date in your work, how many meetings have you had with the Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism? Dr Russell: Can I clarify, please: are you asking about how many meetings there have been of the taskforce? Senator FARUQI: That, as well as any other meetings you've had with the Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism. Dr Russell: There have been five meetings of the taskforce. We had dialogue with the special envoy from the time of and during the period of the campus protests and encampments. There have been- Senator FARUQI: Meetings before as well. Dr Russell: Yes. Senator FARUQI: Can you take on notice how many. Dr Russell: We'll find out. Senator FARUQI: We've had reports on racism in universities by the Race Discrimination Commissioner as well as others, and there's the report of the Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia. How many meetings have you had with the Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia? Dr Russell: We'll come back to you with the exact number. As you would know, the Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia was appointed sometime later and wasn't available until later in the work that we undertook in relation to the issues that were occurring on campuses. From the time of his appointment, we engaged directly with him and also included him in our roundtable discussions. Senator FARUQI: Could you take on notice the number of meetings. Dr Russell: We will.
