Question

Senator KOVACIC: Do you know what number have not met the deadline, or can you provide that on notice? Mrs Sinclair: We can provide it on notice. Ms Weldon-Chan: I would say that it's not compulsory yet in Western Australia. Senator KOVACIC: Would they make up the- Ms Weldon-Chan: They have quite a high compliance rate. Senator KOVACIC: So the 96 per cent doesn't include WA? Mrs Sinclair: In WA it's not mandatory yet. But, even though it's not mandatory, I think just over 80 per cent of services in Western Australia have already voluntarily joined the register. But, yes, that's right. Senator KOVACIC: Could you provide that information on notice- Mrs Sinclair: Of course. Senator KOVACIC: and the different types of enforcement action. You spoke about educative and others. Where organisations or providers have been proactive and are seeking support, you're supporting them to do that, but perhaps for those that are ignoring it and not cooperating that would be different-is that correct? Mrs Sinclair: That's right. Absolutely. Ms Weldon-Chan: And it is the states and territories who are leading that work because they're out with the providers and the services and they can check against the staffing records that are housed at the services. If you would like us to ask the states and territories what action they have been taking, we can certainly do that on your behalf.
