Basin Plan review - fund to support Traditional Owener Nations

1. Via the Basin plan Review, is the Government considering establishing a fund to support Traditional Owner Nations to independently participate in, monitor, and provide oversight of Basin Plan implementation and water governance processes? 2. Does the Government acknowledge that many Traditional Owner organisations currently rely on short-term and project-based funding arrangements that limit independent participation? a. If yes, what is it planning to do about this? 3. Would the Government support a permanent funding mechanism governed independently by Basin Nations themselves? 4. The Government committed $20 million for Cultural Flows for Cultural Economies projects across the Murray-Darling Basin. According to the Department's website, 58 Nations have received funding capped at $300,000 each. At maximum allocation, this totals approximately $17.4 million. Can the Department explain where the remaining approximately $2.6 million has been allocated or whether it remains available to Traditional Owner groups? 5. Have any departmental or administrative costs been drawn from the original $20 million allocation? 6. How will Traditional Owner groups be able to access the remaining $2.6 million?
