In relation to the Reef, the DCCEEW Portfolio Budget Paper says ''Funding will also support continued international engagement to support informed decision-making and ensure consistent consideration of climate-affected properties.'' 1. How much of the amount allocated for reef protection will go towards lobbying the World Heritage Committee and related bodies regarding the upcoming In-Danger listing decision? What activities are planned as part of that lobbying effort? 2. How many DCCEEW representatives will be attending the World Heritage Committee meeting? Will the Minister attend? 3. Please list any meeting proposed with other countries' representatives regarding the proposed in-danger listing. Contaminated washwater A recently published report estimates that 32 million metric tons of contaminated scrubber washwater from ships is being discharged annually into the Great Barrier Reef Marine Protected Area. 4. Is the Department or GBRMPA aware of this research? 5. What is the government doing to monitor washwater discharge and its impacts? 6. Are any regulatory reforms proposed to manage ship discharge in the GBRMPA?
