Question

1. The Government's electricity plan still relies on gas for reliability, so what work has the department done to make sure gas-market intervention does not undermine the gas supply needed to keep the lights on? 2. What work has the department done to reconcile the gas reservation scheme with the gas-fired generation assumptions in the official electricity pathway? 3. What gas-fired generation assumptions does the department rely on for 2030, 2040 and 2050? 4. Has the department quantified how many petajoules of gas are needed to support those assumptions, and where that gas is expected to come from? 5. Does the department's analysis show that reservation increases physical gas availability for gas-fired generation, or simply reallocates existing gas? 6. Has the department tested what happens to reliability and electricity prices if gas supply is still short during the coal retirement period?
