Question

1. Is the Minister and Government aware that a growing body of evidence demonstrates that SGARs are threatening native species across the country, with testing showing toxic levels in 94% of Tasmanian Masked Owls and 74% of Wedge-tailed Eagles? 2. What are the Government's plans to monitor the impact of SGARs within native species following the APVMA's decision to restrict sales of SGARs? a. Does the Government have plans to establish and fund an independent National Wildlife Exposure Monitoring Program to track non-target wildlife exposure and ensure the new rat bait regulations actually reduce the mass number of bird deaths in Tasmania and nationally? b. Is the Government recording baseline SGAR toxicity levels within native species so we can better understand whether the new restrictions on SGAR sales are having a tangible and positive impact on native wildlife?
