Question

1. Modelling included in the 2022 Conservation Advice for the koala indicates a contraction of climate-suitable koala habitat in Queensland of between 17 and 78 per cent by 2030 as a direct result of climate change. How is this projected contraction factored into Departmental decision making? 2. How many hectares of koala habitat in South-East Queensland have been approved for clearing under the EPBC Act in each financial year since 2022-2023? 3. How many EPBC referrals for controlled actions involving clearing of koala habitat for residential or urban development in South-East Queensland have been refused since February 2022? 4. How many times since 2022 has the Department or Minister contacted proponents of projects involving clearing of koala habitat to advise them of their EPBC obligations? Of those, how many subsequently referred proposals for assessment under the EPBC Act? 5. Does the Department maintain cumulative records of the volume of koala habitat approved for clearing in South East Queensland? Please provide any updated departmental modelling on koala population trajectories in South-East Queensland 6. Please list any monitoring and compliance actions taken in relation to approved projects in South East Queensland since February 2022, including the results of any investigations
