1. What legacy systems is your department or agency still using for finance, HR, payroll or other core business functions? 2. Has your department or agency approved a plan and timetable for replacement or upgrade of those legacy systems? 3. What funding, if any, has been set aside for this work over the forward estimates for replacement or upgrade of those legacy systems? 4. Are there any risks if those legacy systems are not replaced on time? If so, what are the biggest risks? 5. Does your department or agency have the internal staff, capability, and funding needed to both maintain legacy systems and deliver the transition to new ones? 6. Has your department or agency assessed whether its legacy systems are making it harder to meet current security requirements? 7. Is your department or agency currently meeting the required Essential Eight maturity level? a. If not, are legacy systems preventing your department or agency from meeting the required Essential Eight maturity level? 8. Does the department or agency consider itself operationally ready to scale AI? a. If not, why and is it due to constraints such as fragmented data, legacy systems, poor integration and or technical debt? 9. What does your department or agency need to do before AI can be used safely at scale?
