Question

The Senate held an Inquiry that resulted in the report 'Unfinished Business: Indigenous stolen wages' which was tabled on 7 December 2006. The 20th anniversary of this report is this year. 1. How are the National Archives of Australia supporting the implementation of ''archival justice'' - the unhindered access to their archives for First Nations people across Australia including those that document the widespread practice of stolen wages? 2. How does the NAA implement the 2019 Tandanya Declaration in its work? 3. Is the NAA aware of any reviews of implementation across Commonwealth or State and Territory archive agencies? 4. What actions and resources are needed for institutions so that trauma-informed, culturally safer archival access can be facilitated?
