Psychosocial safety and hazard reporting
Question
Psychosocial safety and hazard reporting 1. The report says there were zero (0) psychosocial hazard reports formally recorded in 2024-25. This outcome does not seem credible in the context of repeated national concern regarding behaviours in parliamentary workplaces, nor given there are "up to 5,000 people may work in the building on a single day" (p. 21), nor given results from the culture survey than more than 30% of parliamentarians, MOP(S) Act employees, parliamentary and public service employees who responded to the survey had witnessed or experienced bullying in the previous 12 months. Does the PWSS consider zero psychosocial hazard reporting to reflect genuinely low levels of psychosocial harm? Or a lack of trust and confidence in reporting systems, a lack of understanding among workers about what constitutes a psychosocial hazard and how to report one? Or something else? Provide details. 2. What work has been undertaken to assess whether under-reporting of psychosocial hazards is occurring in Commonwealth parliamentary workplaces? 3. How is compliance with workplace psychosocial safety legislative obligations being monitored within Commonwealth parliamentary workplaces?
