Question

1. From 1 January 2026 until Budget night, how many substantive engagements did the Prime Minister hold with the small business sector? 2. Were any of the specific Budget measures with material small business consequences (trust taxation, CGT indexation, negative gearing changes, salary package reforms, ATO collection settings) tested in front of small business representatives before being finalised? Please confirm engagement counts by Budget measure. 3. Was the Prime Minister briefed on any consultations held by the Treasurer with small business bodies? 4. Were any of the small business impacting measures listed above modified in response? a. Since 12 May 2026, how many engagements has the Prime Minister held with the small business sector specifically focused on the Budget's small business impacts? 5. Has the Prime Minister participated in a small business roundtable to consider mitigations to address the unintended consequences of the housing tax measures on commercial property held by family business entities, on retirement stage sales of small businesses (CGT discount issue), or on succession arrangements involving discretionary trusts? a. When did this occur (if it did)? b. Who attended (if it did)?
