Question

1. The McMillan Review of the Modern Slavery Act was tabled on 25 May 2023 with 30 recommendations. The Government took 19 months to publish a response. Why? 2. The Government's response in December 2024 agreed in full or in principle to 25 of the 30 recommendations. As at the date of this hearing three years after the review was tabled - how many of those 25 accepted recommendations have been fully implemented? 3. A Consultation Paper released in July 2025 addressed only 6 of the 30 recommendations. When will the remaining recommendations be the subject of consultation, and does the Government intend to introduce amending legislation? 4. The Anti-Slavery Commissioner has been appointed. What powers does the Commissioner currently have to enforce compliance with the Act? 5. What is the Commissioner's current staffing level and budget?
