Question

1. Provide a spreadsheet containing details of exports of all kangaroo products from 1 January 2024 to current, including a breakdown by: a) Year b) Country of export c) Product d) Financial value e) Quantity (weight or other unit) 2. Provide a spreadsheet containing details of domestic kangaroo products from 1 January 2017 to now, including a breakdown by: a) Year b) Product c) Financial value d) Quantity (weight or other unit) 3. In the past five years, what has been the proportion of kangaroo meat used for pet food? In percentage and volume. If the proportion used cannot be ascertained, then please provide the proportion of kangaroo meat intended for pet food. 4. In the past five years, what has been the proportion of kangaroo meat used for human consumption food? In percentage and volume. If the proportion used cannot be ascertained, then please provide the proportion of kangaroo meat intended for human consumption. 5. Regarding commercial kangaroo meat and other Kangaroo products, how much as the Commonwealth spent in direct and indirect costs including: ? the cost of compliance and enforcement activities, including field inspections, auditing of processors and exporters, and investigations; ? subsidies, grants, concessional arrangements, or export assistance provided to businesses engaged in kangaroo killing, processing, or export, either directly or via industry bodies; ? the cost of any scientific research commissioned or co-funded by the Commonwealth to support the industry, the cost of any public relations, communications, or lobbying activities undertaken or funded by the Commonwealth in support of the kangaroo industry, including in international forums; and ? any other costs, liabilities, or contingent expenditures that the Commonwealth has incurred, or reasonably expects to incur, in relation to the commercial kangaroo killing industry? 6. Has the government considered a comparative cost-benefit analysis of the commercial kangaroo killing industry against the economic, social cultural, ecological and tourism value of thriving wild kangaroo populations? Has this ever been conducted by the Commonwealth? If not, will the government commit to commissioning such an analysis? 7. The commercial National Code of Practice for kangaroos and wallabies is now due for revision. The non-commercial National Code of Practice is also many years out of date. When will a review of the National Codes of Practice for kangaroo and wallaby management be undertaken?
