Question

1. If containerised shipping is introduced or expanded on Norfolk Island, who will be responsible for biosecurity screening of containers, freight, packaging, pallets and other goods? 2. Will biosecurity screening be undertaken by DAFF officers, contractors, Norfolk Island-based staff, a state or territory partner, shipping operators or another entity? 3. What infrastructure, equipment, staffing and training will be required to screen containers on Norfolk Island? 4. Who will fund the establishment and ongoing operation of container biosecurity screening? 5. Has the department assessed whether Norfolk Island's current port and freight facilities meet biosecurity first point of entry requirements for containerised shipping? 6. What additional biosecurity risks have been identified in relation to containerised shipping, and what mitigation measures are proposed?
