Biosecurity Budget and APVMA

Question

1. To what extent are the non commercial regulatory functions of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) that support environmental biosecurity responses being funded in the 2026-27 Budget? 2. Please provide: a) the total appropriation to the APVMA by funding source for 2026-27 and across the forward estimates b) an estimate of the proportion and dollar value of APVMA resourcing devoted to non commercial regulatory functions, including environmental risk assessment, emergency use permits and support for environmental biosecurity incidents. 3. Has any assessment been undertaken of whether the APVMA has sufficient base funding to perform its environmental biosecurity and public-good regulatory functions, independent of cost recovered activities? If so, please provide details and any resulting actions.
