Question

1. How much is the Commonwealth Government investing in Australia's agricultural traceability systems? 2. Which division of the Department is responsible for traceability? 3. What is the progress of the National Agricultural Traceability Strategy, in place since 2023? 4. Does the Traceability Strategy include government regulation and industry arrangements that enable tracking and tracing of agricultural commodities and products along entire supply chains? 5. Would you please provide a list of those agricultural traceability systems. 6. Would you please provide the cost of the traceability systems and how they are funded. 7. The NLIS is state-based - is that correct? 8. Does the NLIS contribute to the development of national policy and industry regulation? 9. Do national industry regulators use the NLIS? 10. What information is collected in the NLIS central data bank? And how is that data used? 11. In relation to live cattle exports, what data is collected along the supply chain, who collects it, and how is it used? 12. I submitted a Question on Notice from the Additional Estimates in February requesting a breakdown of live cattle exports by age and gender - that is cows and heifers, steers and bulls etc. The Department's response was ambiguous - ''The Department's role is to certify that exported livestock meet importing country requirements, which does not include livestock being specifically recorded at the time of export, as being bulls, steers, cows or heifers or if they have been desexed''. Do you mean that the data is not collected OR that data is not collected as part of the loading process? 13. In relation to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Independent Review of Viability of Nightime Livestock Vessel Inspections, was the contract value $136,000? 14. How much did the final report cost? 15. Was the cost of the final report in the vicinity of $170,000?
