Chief Environmental Biosecurity Officer role
Question
The department's recent decision to elevate the role of the Chief Environmental Biosecurity Officer to a First Assistant Secretary level is welcome but by elevating this leadership role, why has the Environmental Biosecurity Project Fund been left completely stagnant at just $850,000, where it has been stuck since 2018? Now that the role of the Chief Environmental Biosecurity Officer has been elevated to a First Assistant Secretary (FAS) level, can the department outline the current organisational structure underneath the Chief? What is the current ASL (Average Staffing Level) or FTE allocated exclusively to the Office of the Chief Environmental Biosecurity Officer? How do these staffing levels compare to those of the Chief Veterinary and Chief Plant Protection Offices?
