Answer due: 16 July 2026

Question

1. Has the department modelled the emissions reduction foregone by terminating the project north of Parkes? Specifically, how many truck movements per year that would have shifted to rail will now remain on road as a result of this decision - and what is the estimated CO2 equivalent of that foregone shift? 2. What logistics assessment has been undertaken on the impact of changing the Inland Rail's scope and freight planning priorities on long-term regional development opportunities within Indigo Shire district and its surrounding municipalities? 3. How does the Government intend to balance increasing national freight productivity and logistics expansion with the safety, liveability and infrastructure capacity of these historic regional communities? 4.Can the Government confirm that Inland rail will never come through the Lockyer Valley, or when the Queensland stages of the project will be reviewed again?
