Question

1. Was the fuel crisis formally discussed during the March 2026 Jet Zero Council meeting and, if so, can the department provide details of what advice, actions or risk mitigation strategies were considered? 2. Has the department undertaken any assessment of how the fuel crisis has or will impacted the Jet Zero Council's existing workplan, priorities or timelines relating to sustainable aviation fuel development? 3. Given the Jet Zero Council's role in supporting aviation decarbonization and fuel transition planning, why was aviation fuel security not discussed at the 13 March meeting? 4. What consultation has the Jet Zero Council undertaken with regional airlines, freight operators, agricultural aerial operators and general aviation stakeholders regarding the operational impacts of the fuel crisis? 5. Has the department undertaken any modelling on whether current fuel market instability and high fuel costs could delay private sector investment in sustainable aviation fuel production capability in Australia? 6. When will the next meeting be for the Jet Zero Council? 7. Given the rapidly evolving fuel supply environment, does the department genuinely consider it appropriate for the next Jet Zero Council meeting to not occur until Q3 2026?
