Western Australia Investment Programs
Question
1. Budget Paper No. 3, Table 2.1 shows infrastructure National Partnership payments to Western Australia falling from $3.455 billion in 2025-26 to $2.521 billion in 2026-27, and to $1.508 billion by 2029-30. Can you confirm that those figures are correct, and provide a comparable five-year-prior baseline for Western Australia, ideally broken down by program? 2. On the same table, payments to Victoria for 2026-27 are $5.548 billion. Can the Department provide the per-capita Commonwealth infrastructure spend for each state for 2026-27 - using the latest ABS population estimates - and the corresponding figure for the average of the last four budgets? 3. Has the Department prepared any analysis of how Commonwealth infrastructure payments compare with each state's contribution to national GDP, freight task, exports or population growth? If so, can that analysis be provided? If not, why not, given the Minister's repeated public statements about 'productivity-enhancing' infrastructure? 4. Of the $8.6 billion committed over 11 years for nationally significant projects starting from 2025-26, how much is allocated to projects west of the Nullarbor? Can the Department provide a breakdown by jurisdiction? 5. What proportion of the new $1.7 billion over nine years allocated for new Infrastructure Investment Program projects from 2026-27 is committed to Western Australian projects?
