Antisemitism definition

Question

Prof. Brown: To start with, any form of antisemitism is abhorred at ANU. Council met for its council planning day on 16 February. We invited Dr Alan Finkel to come and talk to council. Council resolved at its next meeting, which I think was on 24 February, to adopt the part of the Universities Australia definition of antisemitism. Senator KOVACIC: But not the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of antisemitism? Prof. Brown: That's right. We do include that definition of antisemitism in all our education and training materials around respect, rights and relationships for all staff and students, but the actual definition that was adopted by council was part of the Universities Australia definition. Senator KOVACIC: Could you tell me why the other definition wasn't palatable to council. What was the issue with it?
