Question

These questions relate to AIATSIS' answer to portfolio question number NIAA1781 of the 2025-26 Supplementary Budget Estimates, where it responded 'Yes' to the question "Is it the understanding of the agency/department that it is required to publish an AI transparency statement?". Despite this, AIATSIS said that "AIATSIS does not currently have a formal policy on AI use in the workplace", "AIATSIS is at the start of its AI journey" and that it still had not published an AI transparency statement. 1.Does the agency understand that the policy for the responsible use of AI in government is not optional? 2.Has the Digital Transformation Agency contacted the agency about its noncompliance with the policy? If so, provide all communications between the agency and DTA. 3.Has the agency published an AI transparency statement? If so, on what date? 4.Has the agency appointed an AI accountable official? If so, on what date? 5.Does the agency believe that being in breach of federal government policy is acceptable? 6.How does the agency's response to question 7 of NIAA1781, in which it says it takes its obligations under the policy seriously, align with the fact that it has been openly flaunting it for months?
