Staff travel expenditure 2025-26

Question

What was the total cost of staff travel for departmental/agency employees in financial year 2025-26 to date? Are employees required to provide receipts or otherwise acquit actual expenditure after travel? If not, what controls exist to ensure employees are not paid more than their actual travel costs? How many overpayments, recoveries, or compliance issues relating to travel allowances have been identified, and what was their total value?
