Question

Senator LAMBIE: Thank you. I won't keep you long. Thank you for staying behind. Is that married quarters rent? What does that go up each year? What percentage does that go up by? I just can't remember. It was years and years ago. Does that go on a set percentage, or does it go up with something? How do you work your married quarters rent on an annual basis? Mr Jorgensen: Members pay a contribution towards their service residence to Defence, and Defence update that contribution amount annually. DHA does provide some information on rental valuation changes on properties from year to year to Defence, and then Defence uses that information to update the contribution rate. Senator LAMBIE: How much has that gone up over the last three or four years? Have you got that, off the top of your head? I don't want to keep you, but what has that looked like over the last three or four years? Has there been a two or three per cent increase? Mr Jorgensen: I don't have it at my fingertips, but we could certainly take that on notice. Mr Jaggers: Yes, we might take that on notice, if that's okay. Senator LAMBIE: That's fine. Mr Jaggers: We contribute to those. Defence sets the rates, but we obviously administer it, so we'll be able to track down the detail for you.
