Senator CANAVAN: But the regulations apply to European-I don't know if they produce tea-tree oil, but they would notionally apply to European suppliers, producers or manufacturers of tea-tree oil as well? Mr Clayton: It's not specifically targeted at- Senator CANAVAN: It's not a border measure? Mr Clayton: No. It's a broad measure, as opposed to a border measure, but we are a major producer of tea-tree oil. Senator CANAVAN: But it has impacts on Australian industry- Mr Clayton: That's right. Senator CANAVAN: and that's why you're taking up the cause. Have they been restricted to date, or is this just a proposal? Mr Clayton: This has gone through a number of processes, and the information I have here says that they have taken the decision to reclassify the tea-tree oil as this reproductive toxin. It hasn't been implemented yet, but the decision has been taken. Senator CANAVAN: When is it due to be implemented? Mr Clayton: I would have to come back to you on that, I think.
