Question

Senator COLLINS: I'm going to switch to Solomon Islands now, please. I was fortunate to meet Prime Minister Wale yesterday. It's a terrific appointment for him. I think the secretary mentioned in your opening statement that you're working hard to quickly establish trust with the Solomon Islands government. It's great to see him here so soon. Can I ask about the policing program and the $190 million in that. What's been disbursed so far in that, and what's it gone to? Ms Peak: I'll invite Dr Lee to respond. Dr Lee: On the program with the RSIPF expansion, the focus at the moment is on scoping for a police academy. The majority of the work, as you'd appreciate, for that has been in scoping and design, so at this point only modest amounts of funding have been spent, and I don't have exact figures. Senator COLLINS: What's the ballpark on 'modest amounts'? What are we talking about? Dr Lee: I'll have to take on notice the exact amount, but it is only a small, modest amount at this point.
