Quad Initatives

Senator SHARMA: Thanks, Mr Kenna. That was all I had on that topic. I want to ask a little bit about the Quad in the time I have remaining. We have a Quad and Partnerships Branch within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; is that right? Ms Lawson: Yes. That's correct. Senator SHARMA: And that sits within your group? Ms Lawson: Yes. Senator SHARMA: How many FTE are in that branch? Mr Griffiths: The staffing allocation for Quad and Partnerships Branch is an ASL of 20. Senator SHARMA: Is there a particular funding line attached to the Quad activities? Senator Wong: Which activities? Senator SHARMA: I didn't see funding in the recent budget papers as specific lines. Is it funded out of normal departmental expenses, or are there specific projects? Senator Wong: Do you mean what officials do, or do you mean the outcomes? Senator SHARMA: I guess the outcomes or initiatives. Is there budget money attached to any particular Quad programs or initiatives, outside the normal departmental appropriations? Ms Lawson: Yes. I would need to take the specifics on notice, but, yes, for Quad initiatives we have funding. Senator SHARMA: Okay.
