Question

Senator CANAVAN: It's true that, typically, the law wouldn't extend to the regulation of competition directly in another country. I note that the chapter agreement does have a competition chapter, which asks the parties to cooperate and exchange information on competition policies. Have the Chinese authorities engaged in cooperation under that chapter of ChAFTA in regard to its centralisation of iron ore purchasing? Mr Mina: We would need to take that on notice. All of the elements of ChAFTA are consistently under dialogue and discussion-so, yes, in general. But, with respect specifically to your question in relation to minerals and iron ore, we'd have to check whether that was indeed the case.
